Student Life: Service Projects

The mission of Our Lady's School is to prepare its students for lives of service and leadership rooted in the Catholic values of faith, hope, and love. Throughout the year the school has many opportunities for the students to participate in service projects for the school, the local community, and for global issues. The projects are designed to fulfill the gospel message to serve others as well as creating awareness of issues related to those in need. Because our philosophy acknowledges that parents are the primary educators, we encourage our families to provide support in a collaborative spirit, so that we can model the Catholic values we share as a faith community.

The students at Our Lady's School have participated in several projects to help members of the local and global communities who are in need. Some of these projects include:

  • Collecting money for the Holy Childhood Association Mission fund
  • Packing bags of food at the San Diego Food Bank
  • Collecting blankets and umbrellas for the homeless
  • Serving meals at Fr. Joe's Village
  • Writing letters to the retired priests in the Diocese of San Diego
  • Collecting 532 pairs of socks for the homeless
  • Making Christmas cards for U.S. troops overseas
  • Collecting non-perishable items for the parish food pantry
  • Sending cards at the holidays to the residents of a convalescent home
  • Collecting money for the victims of the earthquake in Haiti
  • Participating in Operation Rice Bowl
